The Light in Aquala
Chapter 25 · Back to Aquala
Aquala loomed before them again, its massive form catching the sunlight and there were tons of Neon threads that had collected together here, flowing together like waves in the air.
The mist from the pools far below rose in shimmering, iridescent veils, and the sound of the water was a deafening but somehow soothing roar.
Mara felt the cool spray on her face and breathed in deeply. Something was different though. The Neon in the mist was brighter than before, swirling in patterns and the air felt slightly charged, like currents of electricity were running through it.
Rivia stopped near the edge of the cliff where it all began. "This is it! Look!" She pointed above them as the Neon was starting to turn blue with hints of silver and gold running along its edges.
Rivia closed her eyes, and her Neon brightened.
The colors swirled across her face in patterns that grew faster and more intense. Mara watched in fascination as the air around Rivia began to shimmer. She felt a coolness spread across her skin, and a gentle pull.
"The Neon threads are forming," Rivia said, her voice barely audible over the waterfall. "I need you to stand close to Jaxx and me and close your eyes since it will get very bright as the portal forms."
Lena grabbed Mara's hand. Mara squeezed back. As they stood next to Rivia and Jaxx, they each took a deep breath and closed their eyes.
The incredibly brilliant blue, silver and gold lights were now surrounding them. They were cold and extremely bright.
Mara felt herself being lifted, pulled forward, carried along by an invisible current. She held tight to Lena's hand, comforted by her sister's presence beside her. She heard Jaxx howl and Rivia's voice reassuring him.
Then silence.
