The Tropical Islands

The Light in Aquala

Chapter 54 · The Creatures & Aletta

One was a huge, dog-like creature that was the size of a small horse. Its coat was short, slick like oil and the deepest, rich black color she had ever seen.  Its eyes were glowing Neon yellow around its pupils.

But in spite of its size and completely unique characteristics, it had a kindly face and was looking at her with a reassuring look.

Bjiji could feel her legs starting to shake by now and turned her attention to the second creature. It was a huge cricket with beautifully delicate golden wings and an exoskeleton glowing with shiny, Neon colors that swirled.  Its huge eyes were looking at her as its antenna twitched.

She felt herself growing faint, and as her legs started to give out, the massive dog-like creature was at her side and propping her up.  She leaned on its back and glanced at the cricket, who was now hovering about ten feet in the air.

Its golden wings were moving swiftly, casting numerous glittering gold flecks everywhere. It seemed to be waiting for her and was looking at her, watching her closely.

By this time, Bjiji had got her strength back a little and started to lean away from the dog-like creature. The cricket immediately flew closer to her, then hovered in front of the mysterious black creature she was leaning on.  It was like it was saying for her to hang on or maybe ride on the creature's back.

As if reading her mind, the huge dog-creature lowered itself so she could easily climb on it.  It slowly stood and as she grasped around its neck, the cricket turned around and started moving its wings extremely fast, causing golden glitter to fly all around them.

Then it started flying away and Bjiji held on tightly while the creature beneath her started to run after the cricket.

It was the most unusual feeling as the trees whipped by so fast that they were almost blurred. The creature was keeping pace with the cricket, and it seemed like they were warping through time or time was speeding up.

Suddenly, they emerged from the jungle onto a clearing.

The grass was green and lush, with occasional tall silver grasses and glowing amber flowers mixed in.  There was a giant cylinder of light made up of waves of colorful Neon glows that were continuously moving, swirling together.

Standing off to one side was a woman with fire red hair and glowing silver sparkles of Neon on her face. Her hot pink eyes were the most mesmerizing glowing Neon color Bjiji had ever seen.

"Hello, my name is Aletta." She smiled kindly at Bjiji, who smiled back. The daylight suddenly started to dim and grow fuzzy, then turned into darkness as Bjiji fainted.
